For shorter trips, some medications may have manufacturer-approved room-temperature storage conditions, so additional cooling may not always be necessary. These limits vary by medication, formulation, device, and market.

A passive cooler should not automatically be treated as a replacement for continuous refrigeration during a multi-day or multi-week trip, while an electric cooler also depends on continuous access to an appropriate power source.

Holiday is designed for up to 1 common compatible pen.

Odyssey is designed for up to 3 common insulin pens, depending on dimensions and storage setup. Depending on the actual device size, it may also fit 1 compatible wider pen or 2 compatible slimmer pens.


Intercontinental BC-B002 offers a 1–5 pen capacity reference, while BC-B003 offers a 1–7 pen capacity reference for selected compatible devices. Actual fit depends on the exact device dimensions and packing setup.

Wider single-dose injection devices and products with large external housings may reduce capacity or may not fit. Measure the device before ordering or contact hello@disoncare.com for assistance.

There is no universal GLP-1 pen-capacity number because injection devices can vary significantly in length, diameter, shape, and country-specific presentation.

Wider single-dose auto-injectors may require more space than common slim insulin pens. Actual fit also depends on whether you use the original carton, a protective pouch, a barrier from the frozen cooling component, and the selected cooling setup.

No. Whether an injection pen fits in a travel cooler depends on the exact device dimensions and the complete packing setup, not only on the medication name.

Original retail packaging can take up significantly more space than the injection device itself, so a cooler that fits the device may not fit the full carton or box.

Before choosing a cooler, consider:

  • the exact length and width of the injection device;
  • how many devices you need to carry;
  • whether you plan to keep the original box or other packaging;
  • whether you are using a protective pouch or another barrier;
  • the space required by the cooling component.

Cooling duration depends on the model and how the cooler is prepared and used.

Cooling durations are based on DISONCARE product testing under stated conditions.

No. DISONCARE coolers are designed to support portable cooling during travel, but they do not guarantee that every medication will remain between 2°C and 8°C under all conditions.

Current stated cooling durations vary by series:

• Holiday: up to 16 hours
• Odyssey: up to 60 hours
• Intercontinental: up to 74 hours

These durations describe cooler performance under stated product test conditions. Actual performance can vary with ambient temperature, cooling-component preparation, opening frequency, device placement, protective packaging, and the amount carried.

Always follow the storage instructions supplied with your exact medication. A cooler cannot determine whether a medication remains safe or effective.

Place the blue BioGel bottle in a freezer at approximately −18°C / 0°F for 6–8 hours.

After removing it from the freezer, allow it to rest at room temperature for approximately 15–30 minutes, or rinse the exterior under ordinary tap water for approximately 30–60 seconds. Dry the bottle before placing it inside the cooler.

Place compatible injection devices inside the included protective pouch or use another suitable protective barrier. Original packaging may also be used where dimensions and available space permit.

Medication should not directly touch the fully frozen BioGel bottle because direct contact with a frozen cooling source may expose it to excessively low temperatures.

Avoid direct contact between medication and a frozen BioGel bottle or another frozen cooling surface.

Use the medication’s original carton, the included protective pen pouch, or another suitable barrier between the medication and the frozen component. Freezing can damage some medications, so always follow the storage instructions supplied with your exact medication.

For the standard blue DISONCARE BioGel bottle:

• Freeze it at approximately −18°C for at least 6–8 hours before use.
• After removing it from the freezer, allow it to rest at room temperature for approximately 15–30 minutes, or rinse the exterior under ordinary room-temperature running water for approximately 30–60 seconds.
• Dry the exterior before placing it in the cooler.
• Continue to use a protective barrier between the medication and the frozen BioGel surface.

Preparing the BioGel bottle does not guarantee a fixed medication temperature. A travel cooler supports temperature management but cannot determine whether a medication remains safe or effective.

The temperature display measures the air temperature inside the cooler near the sensor.

It does not measure the internal/core temperature of the medication itself. Because the medication, protective pouch, and packaging have their own thermal mass, the medication temperature usually changes more gradually than the surrounding air temperature.

For this reason, the display should be used as a reference for the internal environment of the cooler, rather than as a direct measurement of the medicine itself.

We also recommend keeping the medication inside the protective pouch or another suitable barrier and avoiding direct contact with the frozen BioGel.

The display does not actively regulate the cooler temperature.

After opening, loading, or repacking the cooler, allow time for the interior temperature and reading to stabilize before checking it.

Travel & Medication Storage

Medication, medically necessary liquids, gel packs, injection supplies, and cooling accessories may be permitted through airport security but can require declaration, separate inspection, or additional screening.

DISONCARE coolers are not officially approved, certified, or endorsed by TSA or another airport security authority.

For U.S. airport screening, inform the TSA officer when carrying medically necessary liquids, medication, or cooling supplies that require inspection.

Requirements can differ between the departure country, transit location, destination, airline, and local security authority. We do not recommend leaving a medication cooler in a parked car or other enclosed hot environment for an extended period.

Vehicle interiors can become much hotter than the outside air, especially in direct sunlight. Because DISONCARE hard medication coolers use passive cooling rather than active refrigeration, higher ambient temperatures can shorten cooling duration.

For best travel planning:


  • keep the cooler with you whenever practical;

  • avoid prolonged direct sunlight;

  • do not store it next to windows, dashboards, or other heat-exposed surfaces;

  • minimize unnecessary opening;

  • consider the full time your medication may be exposed to hot conditions.
