About the Cooler

Yes, you can generally take a DISONCARE medication cooler through a U.S. airport security checkpoint with medically necessary medication and related cooling supplies, subject to screening.

However, DISONCARE coolers are not officially TSA-approved, certified, or endorsed. TSA does not provide product-level approval for individual commercial medication coolers.

Tell the TSA officer that you are carrying medication and medically necessary cooling supplies, and be prepared for separate or additional inspection. Medically necessary gel ice packs in reasonable quantities may be inspected when frozen, partially frozen, slushy, or melted. The final decision at the checkpoint rests with the TSA officer.

DISONCARE offers hard-sided and soft-sided cooling options for different travel needs.

Holiday Series: Designed for up to 1 common injection pen and cooling for up to 16 hours.

Odyssey Series: Designed for up to 3 common insulin pens and cooling for up to 60 hours. Odyssey models are available with a Standard Lid, Digital Temperature Display, or Mechanical Dial Temperature Display.

Intercontinental Series: Designed for approximately 5–7 common insulin pens and cooling for up to 74 hours.

Actual capacity depends on pen length, diameter, protective pouch, original packaging, and storage setup. Cooling duration varies with ambient temperature, preparation, opening frequency, and load.

Cooling duration depends on the model and how the cooler is prepared and used.

Holiday Series: Up to 16 hours

Odyssey Series: Up to 60 hours

Intercontinental Series: Up to 74 hours

These are brand-reported performance periods under stated test conditions. Actual cooling performance varies with ambient temperature, BioGel preparation, opening frequency, the number and starting temperature of the items inside, and the storage setup.

The stated cooling duration is not a guarantee that every medication will remain within a specific temperature range for the entire period. Always follow the storage instructions for your medication.

Place the blue BioGel bottle in a freezer at approximately −18°C / 0°F for 6–8 hours.

After removing it from the freezer, allow it to rest at room temperature for approximately 15–30 minutes, or rinse the exterior under ordinary tap water for approximately 30–60 seconds. Dry the bottle before placing it inside the cooler.

Place injection pens inside the included protective pouch, their original packaging, or another suitable protective barrier.

Medication should not directly touch the fully frozen BioGel bottle because direct contact with a frozen cooling source may expose it to excessively low temperatures.

Avoid direct contact between medication and a frozen BioGel bottle or another frozen cooling surface.

Use the medication’s original carton, the included protective pen pouch, or another suitable barrier between the medication and the frozen component. Freezing can damage some medications, so always follow the storage instructions supplied with your exact medication.

For the standard blue DISONCARE BioGel bottle:

• Freeze it at approximately −18°C for at least 6–8 hours before use.
• After removing it from the freezer, allow it to rest at room temperature for approximately 15–30 minutes, or rinse the exterior under ordinary room-temperature running water for approximately 30–60 seconds.
• Dry the exterior before placing it in the cooler.
• Continue to use a protective barrier between the medication and the frozen BioGel surface.

Preparing the BioGel bottle does not guarantee a fixed medication temperature. A travel cooler supports temperature management but cannot determine whether a medication remains safe or effective.

Some DISONCARE coolers may be used with compatible temperature-sensitive injection pens, cartridges, or vials, including certain GLP-1 and other injection devices.

Compatibility is not universal. It depends on the device’s length, diameter, housing shape, protective cap, packaging, and the amount of available internal space.

Before ordering, measure the item you plan to carry and review the relevant product page. For compatibility assistance, email hello@disoncare.com with the medication device name, dimensions, and planned quantity.

Always follow the storage instructions supplied with the specific medication. You can also review our GLP-1 Travel Cooler and Pen Compatibility Guide before choosing a cooler.

There is no universal GLP-1 pen-capacity number because injection devices can vary significantly in length, diameter, shape, and country-specific presentation.

Wider single-dose auto-injectors may require more space than common slim insulin pens. Actual fit also depends on whether you use the original carton, a protective pouch, a barrier from the frozen cooling component, and the selected cooling setup.

Before ordering or traveling:

• Measure the length and diameter of your exact injection device.
• Include the original packaging or protective pouch in your measurement.
• Confirm that the medication can be packed without forcing or compressing it.
• Test the complete arrangement at home before relying on it during travel.

Odyssey and Intercontinental provide different amounts of internal space, but compatibility should be confirmed using the exact device and packing setup rather than a general pen-count claim.

No. DISONCARE coolers are designed to support portable cooling during travel, but they do not guarantee that every medication will remain between 2°C and 8°C under all conditions.

Current stated cooling durations vary by series:

• Holiday: up to 16 hours
• Odyssey: up to 60 hours
• Intercontinental: up to 74 hours

These durations describe cooler performance under stated product test conditions. Actual performance can vary with ambient temperature, cooling-component preparation, opening frequency, device placement, protective packaging, and the amount carried.

Always follow the storage instructions supplied with your exact medication. A cooler cannot determine whether a medication remains safe or effective.

No. The temperature display provides a reference reading of the air temperature near the sensor inside the cooler.

It does not directly measure the temperature of the medication liquid, the center of an injection pen, or every location inside the cooler. The medication itself may be warmer or colder than the displayed value depending on its position, packaging, thermal mass, and proximity to the cooling component.

Use the displayed temperature as a travel reference only. The display does not actively regulate temperature, prevent freezing, or determine whether a medication remains safe or effective.

Always follow the storage instructions supplied with your exact medication.

No. Capacity and compatibility depend on the exact dimensions and shape of each device.

Holiday is designed for up to 1 common compatible pen.

Odyssey is designed for up to 3 common insulin pens, depending on dimensions and storage setup. Depending on the actual device size, it may also fit 1 compatible wider pen or 2 compatible slimmer pens.

Intercontinental is designed for approximately 5–7 common insulin pens, depending on dimensions and packing arrangement.

Wider single-dose injection devices and products with large external housings may reduce capacity or may not fit. Measure the device before ordering or contact hello@disoncare.com for assistance.

Medication, medically necessary liquids, gel packs, injection supplies, and cooling accessories may be permitted through airport security but can require declaration, separate inspection, or additional screening.

DISONCARE coolers are not officially approved, certified, or endorsed by TSA or another airport security authority.

For U.S. airport screening, inform the TSA officer when carrying medically necessary liquids, medication, or cooling supplies that require inspection.

Requirements can differ between the departure country, transit location, destination, airline, and local security authority. Check the current requirements for every part of your journey before traveling. For additional preparation guidance, read our guide on How to Keep Medicine Cool While Traveling.

Whenever possible, keep essential medication and its cooling supplies accessible in your carry-on baggage rather than relying on checked baggage.

Airline, airport-security, and destination-country requirements can vary. Confirm the current rules with the relevant airline and security authorities before departure.

Always follow the medication manufacturer’s storage and transportation instructions.

Choose a cooler according to:

• The number of pens, cartridges, or vials you need to carry
• The actual length and diameter of each item
• Whether you use the original packaging or a protective pouch
• Your estimated travel duration
• Whether you prefer a Standard, Digital Temperature Display, or Mechanical Dial Temperature Display model
• The expected ambient conditions during travel
