Description

Cooling container only. No insulin, medication, prescription drug, or injectable product is included or sold with this item.

The DISONCARE Odyssey Series is a compact, non-electric insulin cooler for travel, designed to carry up to 3 common insulin pens depending on pen dimensions, protective pouch use, and storage setup.

When the included BioGel bottle is prepared and used as directed, the cooler can provide cooling for up to 60 hours under DISONCARE test conditions. Actual cooling performance varies with ambient temperature, opening frequency, pen load, BioGel preparation, and storage setup.

Odyssey Series Insulin Cooler for Travel

Designed for daily travel, flights, road trips, outdoor activities, and longer journeys, the Odyssey Series provides a reusable, non-electric cooling option for people carrying temperature-sensitive injection pens.

Its slim cylindrical design is easy to hold and pack, while the vacuum-insulated stainless steel body works together with the reusable BioGel bottle to help reduce the effect of changing outdoor temperatures.

This cooler supports medication travel but does not determine whether a medication remains safe or effective. Always follow the storage instructions supplied with your specific medication and consult a qualified healthcare professional when medication has been exposed to temperatures outside its recommended range.

Key Features

  • Up to 60 hours of cooling: Brand-reported performance under DISONCARE test conditions when the included BioGel bottle is prepared and used as directed.
  • Fits up to 3 common insulin pens: Actual capacity depends on pen length, diameter, protective pouch, packaging, and storage arrangement.
  • Non-electric travel design: No continuous power source, charging cable, or battery is required for cooling.
  • 18/8 stainless steel construction: Double-wall vacuum insulation helps reduce heat transfer from the surrounding environment.
  • Reusable BioGel bottle: Designed to be frozen and reused for medication travel.
  • Protective pen pouch: Helps separate injection pens from the frozen BioGel bottle.
  • QR Medical Information Tag: Allows the user to add selected emergency contact and medical information.

Up to 60 Hours of Cooling Performance

When properly prepared, the included blue BioGel bottle can support cooling for up to 60 hours under DISONCARE test conditions.

The actual duration and internal temperature will vary according to:

  • Ambient temperature and direct sunlight
  • How completely the BioGel bottle was frozen
  • How often the cooler is opened
  • The number, size, and starting temperature of the pens
  • Use of the protective pouch or original medication packaging
  • The amount of empty space inside the cooler
  • The way the cooler is carried and stored during travel

The “up to 60 hours” statement describes cooler performance under test conditions. It is not a guarantee that every medication will remain within a specific temperature range for 60 hours.

18/8 Stainless Steel Vacuum-Insulated Body

The Odyssey cooler uses 18/8 stainless steel inner and outer walls with a vacuum-insulated layer between them. This structure helps reduce heat transfer caused by conduction, convection, and radiation.

The stainless steel body is durable and reusable, making the Odyssey Series suitable for regular commuting, vacations, road trips, flights, and other situations where continuous electricity may not be available.

Pen Capacity and Compatibility

The Odyssey Series is designed to carry up to 3 common insulin pens. Capacity is not universal and will depend on the exact dimensions of each pen and the way the cooler is packed.

Depending on actual device dimensions, the cooler may also fit 1 compatible wider injection pen or 2 compatible slimmer injection pens. Wider single-dose injection devices and pens with large external housings may reduce capacity or may not fit.

Approximate external dimensions: 9 × 2.5 in / 23 × 6.5 cm

Before ordering, compare the length and diameter of your injection pen with the available internal space. Keep in mind that caps, original packaging, protective sleeves, and the included pouch will affect the usable capacity.

For compatibility assistance, contact DISONCARE Customer Support at hello@disoncare.com with the name, length, diameter, and quantity of the pens you plan to carry.

How to Prepare the BioGel Bottle

  1. Place the blue BioGel bottle in a freezer at approximately −18°C / 0°F for 6–8 hours.
  2. Confirm that the BioGel bottle is fully frozen before use.
  3. After removing it from the freezer, allow it to rest at room temperature for approximately 15–30 minutes, or rinse the exterior under ordinary tap water for approximately 30–60 seconds.
  4. Dry the outside of the BioGel bottle before placing it inside the cooler.
  5. Place injection pens inside the protective pouch, original packaging, or another suitable protective barrier.
  6. Load the BioGel bottle and protected pens into the cooler, then close the lid securely.
  7. Limit unnecessary opening during travel to reduce warm-air exchange.

Important: Medication should not directly touch the fully frozen BioGel bottle. Direct contact with a frozen cooling source may expose medication to excessively low temperatures.

Do not pour loose ice or water directly into the main stainless steel cooler body.

Standard, Digital, and Mechanical Lid Options

This product page is for the Odyssey Standard Lid model.

DISONCARE also offers separate Odyssey models with:

  • Digital Temperature Display: Provides an electronic internal air-temperature reference near the sensor.
  • Mechanical Dial Temperature Display: Provides a battery-free internal air-temperature reference near the sensor.

Temperature-display models measure the internal air temperature near the sensor. They do not directly measure the temperature inside a medication pen, cartridge, vial, or liquid, and they cannot determine whether medication remains safe or effective.

QR Medical Information Tag

The included QR Medical Information Tag allows the owner to enter and manage selected emergency information, such as contact details and an emergency contact.

The information is entered and maintained by the user. The tag does not provide GPS location tracking, automatic temperature monitoring, medical-record integration, identity verification, or airport security approval.

Only include information that you are comfortable making available through the tag.

Airport Screening and Medication Travel

Medication, medically necessary liquids, gel packs, injection supplies, and cooling accessories may be subject to declaration and additional screening at airport security checkpoints.

This cooler is not officially approved, certified, or endorsed by TSA or another airport security authority. Requirements may differ between the departure country, transit location, destination, airline, and local security authority.

For U.S. airport screening, inform the TSA officer when carrying medically necessary liquids or cooling supplies that require separate inspection. The final decision regarding whether an item is permitted through a checkpoint rests with the screening officer.

Before traveling, review the current requirements of your airline and the security authorities for every location included in your journey.
