The Odyssey Mechanical Dial provides a battery-free reference to the air temperature inside the cooler. The metal probe extends into the cooler interior, allowing the dial to respond to temperature changes around the probe.

Battery-Free Temperature Reference

The mechanical dial operates without charging or a display battery. Read the temperature directly from the dial on top of the lid.

Interior Probe Design

The metal probe extends into the cooler and responds to the air temperature around the probe. Keep the probe clean, dry, and unobstructed when loading the cooler.

Allow the Reading to Stabilize

After loading, opening, or repacking the cooler, allow time for the interior temperature and mechanical dial reading to stabilize.

A temporary change in the dial reading after the lid is opened is normal because warmer outside air may enter the cooler.

Review the Odyssey Cooler’s external dimensions and usable internal space before ordering. The available medication space depends on the BioGel Bottle position, the exact device shape, and the packing setup.

Cooler Dimensions

  • Total Height: 9 in / 23 cm
  • External Diameter: 2.5 in / 6.5 cm

Internal Space

  • Usable Internal Height: 6.5 in / 16.5 cm
  • Internal Chamber Diameter: 2.28 in / 5.8 cm
  • Maximum Clearance Beside the BioGel Bottle: 1.29 in / 3.3 cm

Capacity also depends on the exact device model and packing setup.

Cooling Setup

  • Blue BioGel Bottle: Provides the primary cooling support.
  • Emergency Bottle: Used as part of the extended cooling setup to help increase total cooling duration.

1. Freeze the Blue BioGel Bottle

Place the Blue BioGel Bottle in a freezer at approximately −18°C / 0°F for 6–8 hours before use.

2. Prepare the Frozen BioGel Bottle

After removing it from the freezer, let it rest at room temperature for approximately 15–30 minutes, or rinse the outside under regular tap water for 30–60 seconds.

This helps moderate the surface temperature before packing.

3. Protect Your Injection Device

Place the injection pen or device inside the included protective pouch or use a suitable protective layer.

Avoid prolonged direct contact between the injection device and the frozen BioGel Bottle.

4. Load the Cooler

Place the prepared Blue BioGel Bottle and injection device inside the Odyssey Cooler. Make sure the device sits naturally without excessive pressure.

Keep the mechanical probe unobstructed and avoid pressing the injection device directly against it.

5. Close the Mechanical Dial Lid Securely

Insert the probe carefully into the cooler and tighten the lid fully. Do not force the lid if the probe or injection device is blocked.

Keep the cooler closed as much as possible during travel. Frequent or prolonged opening may reduce cooling duration.

6. Check the Mechanical Dial

Read the air-temperature reference from the dial on top of the lid.

After opening, loading, or repacking the cooler, allow time for the dial reading and interior temperature to stabilize.

7. Use the Emergency Bottle When Needed

For the extended cooling setup, prepare the Emergency Bottle according to the included instructions and place it inside the cooler.

Do not pour ice or water directly into the main cooler body.
