Preguntas frecuentes
Acerca del frigorífico
Not every trip requires a medication cooler. Start by checking the current storage instructions for your exact medication and injection device.
A travel cooler may be useful when your medication requires cooling support and you expect to spend extended time away from reliable refrigeration, such as during long flights, road trips, layovers, outdoor activities, or hot-weather travel.
For shorter trips, some medications may have manufacturer-approved room-temperature storage conditions, so additional cooling may not always be necessary. These limits vary by medication, formulation, device, and market.
If cooling is appropriate for your medication, choose a cooler based on the exact device dimensions, number of devices, total door-to-door travel time, and expected ambient conditions.
You can compare DISONCARE cooler capacity and device fit in the Medication Cooler Fit Guide:
https://disoncare.com/pages/medication-cooler-fit-guide
Choose a cooler according to:
• The number of pens, cartridges, or vials you need to carry
• The actual length and diameter of each item
• Whether you use the original packaging or a protective pouch
• Your estimated travel duration
• Whether you prefer a Standard, Digital Temperature Display, or Mechanical Dial Temperature Display model
• The expected ambient conditions during travel
For additional help, visit our Insulin Cooler for Travel guide or email hello@disoncare.com with your device measurements and planned quantity.
DISONCARE offers hard-sided and soft-sided cooling options for different travel needs.
Holiday Series:

Odyssey Series:
Flexible-capacity option for up to 3 selected insulin pens, with up to 60 hours of cooling support. Odyssey is available with a Standard Lid, Digital Temperature Display, or Mechanical Dial Temperature Display.
Intercontinental Series:
Extended-capacity options for users carrying multiple compatible injection devices. BC-B002 offers a 1–5 pen capacity range with up to 60 hours of cooling support, while BC-B003 offers a larger 1–7 pen capacity range with up to 74 hours of cooling support.
Actual fit varies by injection device model, dimensions, and packing setup.
A passive or electric medication cooler may be more suitable depending on your medication's storage requirements, travel duration, access to power, and destination storage.
A passive medication cooler uses a prepared cooling component such as a frozen BioGel pack and does not require electricity. It can be useful for flights, road trips, commuting, and other periods when you need portable cooling support without relying on a power source.
An electric medication cooler uses power to provide active cooling and may be worth considering for longer situations where continuous powered cooling is needed and a reliable power source is available.
When deciding between the two, consider:
- the current storage instructions for your exact medication;
- total door-to-door travel time;
- expected ambient temperature;
- whether reliable electricity or USB power will be available;
- whether you can re-prepare a passive cooling component during the trip;
- the number and dimensions of the injection devices you need to carry;
- refrigeration available after arrival.
A passive cooler should not automatically be treated as a replacement for continuous refrigeration during a multi-day or multi-week trip, while an electric cooler also depends on continuous access to an appropriate power source.
For DISONCARE's current passive medication cooler sizes and device compatibility, see the Medication Cooler Fit Guide.
Fit & Capacity
No. Capacity and compatibility depend on the exact dimensions and shape of each device.
Holiday is designed for up to 1 common compatible pen.
Odyssey is designed for up to 3 common insulin pens, depending on dimensions and storage setup. Depending on the actual device size, it may also fit 1 compatible wider pen or 2 compatible slimmer pens.
Intercontinental BC-B002 offers a 1–5 pen capacity reference, while BC-B003 offers a 1–7 pen capacity reference for selected compatible devices. Actual fit depends on the exact device dimensions and packing setup.
Wider single-dose injection devices and products with large external housings may reduce capacity or may not fit. Measure the device before ordering or contact hello@disoncare.com for assistance.
There is no universal GLP-1 pen-capacity number because injection devices can vary significantly in length, diameter, shape, and country-specific presentation.
Wider single-dose auto-injectors may require more space than common slim insulin pens. Actual fit also depends on whether you use the original carton, a protective pouch, a barrier from the frozen cooling component, and the selected cooling setup.
Before ordering or traveling:
• Measure the length and diameter of your exact injection device.
• Include the original packaging or protective pouch in your measurement.
• Confirm that the medication can be packed without forcing or compressing it.
• Test the complete arrangement at home before relying on it during travel.
Odyssey and Intercontinental provide different amounts of internal space, but compatibility should be confirmed using the exact device and packing setup rather than a general pen-count claim.
No. Whether an injection pen fits in a travel cooler depends on the exact device dimensions and the complete packing setup, not only on the medication name.
Original retail packaging can take up significantly more space than the injection device itself, so a cooler that fits the device may not fit the full carton or box.
Before choosing a cooler, consider:
- the exact length and width of the injection device;
- how many devices you need to carry;
- whether you plan to keep the original box or other packaging;
- whether you are using a protective pouch or another barrier;
- the space required by the cooling component.
DISONCARE capacity references are based on compatible injection-device formats and typical packing arrangements. They should not be interpreted as a guarantee that the device will fit together with its full retail packaging.
If you are traveling internationally, check whether your airline, airport, customs authority, or medication instructions recommend keeping the medication in identifiable or original packaging.
Before ordering, compare your exact device in the DISONCARE Medication Cooler Fit Guide. For GLP-1 devices, you can also check the GLP-1 Injection Device Cooler Fit Guide.
Cooling & BioGel

Travel & Medication Storage
Medication, medically necessary liquids, gel packs, injection supplies, and cooling accessories may be permitted through airport security but can require declaration, separate inspection, or additional screening.
DISONCARE coolers are not officially approved, certified, or endorsed by TSA or another airport security authority.
For U.S. airport screening, inform the TSA officer when carrying medically necessary liquids, medication, or cooling supplies that require inspection.
Requirements can differ between the departure country, transit location, destination, airline, and local security authority. Check the current requirements for every part of your journey before traveling. For additional preparation guidance, read our guide on How to Keep Medicine Cool While Traveling.
Whenever possible, keep essential medication and its cooling supplies accessible in your carry-on baggage rather than relying on checked baggage.
Airline, airport-security, and destination-country requirements can vary. Confirm the current rules with the relevant airline and security authorities before departure.
Always follow the medication manufacturer’s storage and transportation instructions.
Neither type is automatically better—the right choice depends on your travel time, access to power or refrigeration, and the storage requirements of your specific medication.
A passive medication cooler does not require electricity. Instead, it uses a prepared cooling component, such as a frozen gel or cooling bottle, to provide portable cooling support. This type of setup can be practical for flights, daily travel, road trips, and situations where you want a compact cooling solution without relying on a power source.
An electric or powered medication cooler uses electricity, a battery, or another powered cooling system. It may be worth considering when your travel plans specifically require ongoing powered cooling and you have reliable access to the required power source.
DISONCARE hard medication coolers are passive cooling containers. They use a prepared Blue BioGel Bottle and insulated stainless-steel construction rather than active refrigeration. They do not electrically regulate the chamber to a fixed temperature.
When deciding between passive and powered cooling, consider your total door-to-door travel time, ambient conditions, access to refrigeration or power at your destination, the number and format of injection devices you carry, and the storage instructions provided with your medication.
If a passive travel cooler fits your needs, use the DISONCARE Medication Cooler Fit Guide to compare Holiday, Odyssey, and Intercontinental by device fit and carrying capacity.
We do not recommend leaving a medication cooler in a parked car or other enclosed hot environment for an extended period.
Vehicle interiors can become much hotter than the outside air, especially in direct sunlight. Because DISONCARE hard medication coolers use passive cooling rather than active refrigeration, higher ambient temperatures can shorten cooling duration.
For best travel planning:
keep the cooler with you whenever practical;
avoid prolonged direct sunlight;
do not store it next to windows, dashboards, or other heat-exposed surfaces;
minimize unnecessary opening;
consider the full time your medication may be exposed to hot conditions.
DISONCARE cooling-duration results are based on controlled test conditions. Actual performance varies with ambient temperature, BioGel preparation, device load, packing arrangement, and how often the cooler is opened.
If you believe your medication may have been exposed to excessive heat, check the current storage instructions for that specific medication and contact your pharmacist, healthcare provider, or medication manufacturer if needed.
Planning a long road trip or hot-weather journey? See our international medication travel guide for more travel-planning tips.
It depends on the specific medication. Storage rules after a medication has been removed from refrigeration can vary by product, formulation, injection device, and market.
Some medications may allow limited room-temperature storage, while others may have different instructions about returning the product to refrigerated storage. Do not assume that the same rule applies to all insulin, GLP-1, or other injectable medications.
Check the current storage instructions for your exact medication and device. If the medication has been exposed to temperatures outside the recommended conditions, or if you are unsure how long it has been unrefrigerated, contact your pharmacist, healthcare provider, or the medication manufacturer for product-specific guidance.
A DISONCARE cooler can provide passive cooling support during travel, but it does not determine whether a medication remains suitable for use or whether it should be refrigerated again.
